BBC uncover personal stories of the First World War

Starting in early 2014, the BBC will be working with Lives of the First World War to help bring more than a thousand powerful stories to life – all linked to specific places across the UK – through the brand new World War One at Home project, announced today as a part of their First World War Centenary season.

World War One at Home will uncover surprising stories about familiar neighbourhoods where the wounded were treated, major scientific developments happened, prisoners of war were held and where heroes are buried.

As well as featuring on BBC regional TV, Local Radio in England and national programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the individuals at the heart of these stories will be remembered on Lives of the First World War, giving you the opportunity to further explore your personal connections to these individuals, and the chance to contribute your knowledge to telling their stories.
