New book and exhibition – This Terrible Ordeal

New book and exhibition  ‘This Terrible Ordeal’ charts the lives of the residents of the Isle of Man during the War, revealing previously untold personal stories alongside letters home from Manx soldiers and sailors, and poetry and art produced in reaction to the conflict.

Helping us to build a complete picture of the impact of the First World War on Britain and the Commonwealth, all of the life stories covered in the book and exhibition will be remembered in Lives of the First World War, commemorating the role of the Manx people in this cataclysmic event in world history.

‘This Terrible Ordeal’ will be launching on the 8 November 2013 at Manx Museum with a short talk from Matthew Richard, followed by a book signing.
